Master Xiaoqin (Sherry) Zhang

Master Zhang brings over 30 years of experience in Chinese martial arts to her Tai Chi classes at Bamboomoves. 

Master Zhang has been training since 1970 with Wu Shu Master Yuan Xing An.  She was instructed in Bajiquan and Chaquan by Master Wang Shutian in Sichuan, China.  In 1984, Master Zhang won first place in women's Nanquan, Chaquan, and double sword play and second place in spear play in the First National College Wu Shu Competition held in Chengdu City, Sichuan, China.  She has participated in compiling The Complete Fists and Weapons of Chinese Wushu and co-authored The China Wu Shu Encylopedia, An Introduction to Chinese Weapons and Culture.  

Ms Zhang holds a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and is certified as a Taijiquan instructor by the China Wu Shu Association.  She has previously held positions as manager of the China Wu Shu Association Guo Wu Sports Products, Inc and board member of the Economic Development Sub-committe of the China Wu Shu Association.  She was an Associated Researcher for the China Wu Shu Research Institute and is a Certified National Wu Shu referee by the China Physical Culture and Sport Committee. 

Master Zhang teaches Yang-style 24 form Tai Chi at Bamboomoves Forest Hills.  Her classes are held Tuesdays and Fridays from 12-1:15pm.
