In November 2007, Bamboomoves first opened its doors in Forest Hills, NY offering classes in yoga, dance, Tai Chi, and mixed martial arts. Bamboomoves was the brainchild of Andrew Tanner, owner and previous manager of three yoga centers in Manhattan, NY. After managing and training in Eastern-style yoga, Tai Chi Ch'uan, and martial arts for more than five years, he had developed his own training program to strengthen and heal the human body. When the opportunity arose, Andrew chose to open his own studio in the heart of Queens, Forest Hills, with classes that allowed students to train using the best of Eastern knowledge and disciplines. Following months of hard work, Andrew opened Bamboomoves with his student and trainee, Kaity Leisure. The staff has since grown to an array of instructors, including graduates of Bamboomoves' 200-hr Instructor Training course offered in the summer of 2008. Bamboomoves provides Forest Hills with over 30 classes per week and most recently celebrated the opening of its second studio in Englewood NJ under the management of Scott Kleinfeld and Jae Young Son. Bamboomoves continues to be the "yoga ambassador to Queens" (and to New Jersey as well), moving people to a greater place of peace and holistic health.
